With the new SIM service, I'm sure they're picking up more AT&T business, and they also have at least one Android phone on Sprint's network.

There were several authors I read voraciously as a teen and can't stomach now, with Stephen King probably the lone survivor. Koontz's first albino detective book was the first one I tried in college, and I couldn't deal with the USA Today prose and the clumsy wedging in of character traits, plot points, and maudlin moralizing. His stuff was okay YA material, but I couldn't recommend it to a grown-up.

I'm pretty sure I've been to the Bexley one, but don't remember anything about it. When I was there a few years ago, membership at CCM was a yearly fee that got you %5 off everything and %10 one day of the month (first Monday or something like that). There were other benefits and ways to get involved, but I got the membership mainly because I did the math and the discount more than paid for it. It is still the best co-op or "natural foods" grocery I've ever found, but I'm sure it's worth checking out the others. CCM's strengths were produce (great quality, neither super cheap nor expensive), bulk foods (including teas and spices) and the deli cases. They had a solid selection of coffee beans, too.

Some have yearly dues, some are a one-time buy-in, one *required* volunteer time, and none distribute profit back to the membership as far as I'm aware (there's always somewhere within the co-op that money can go). One thing the article didn't mention is that most will honor memberships in other co-ops, at least as far as the discount at the register.

For organic stuff (produce or packaged goods) they almost always beat any big box on price and selection, and many have great, cheap bulk foods as well. Like any more traditional business, it depends a lot on how much support the co-op has, their total volume of sales, and how quickly they turn over product. Columbus, OH has a big activist community and a killer co-op (Clintonville Community Market), whereas Erie, PA, not so much.

What I disliked about Amazon Appstore (past tense—I uninstalled it a couple weeks ago) were the periodic nags to install every app I'd ever "purchased" from them, lack of truly automatic updates, and the fact that I can't uninstall or disable the appstore without also disabling all the apps I installed from there. It's another source to manage, and GP handles app management better at every level. GP still has long way to go in terms of app management, too, and part of its advantage is just the level of integration, but the Amazon Appstore was a bother every time it reminded me it exists, which was too often.

I just tried out a Scotch tube, and going by ear there was no amplification and some echoing.
